Lead Software Engineers on the Engineering Platform Innovation team coding, coaching teammates, communicating both inside and outside of the team, and collaborating across Humana IT to drive an engineer-first mindset.

We're dedicated to building a world-class experience for Humana's engineering teams. As a lead engineer with EPI, you'll be:

Coding (plenty of hands-on-keyboard time),

Coaching other teammates to help them grow their skills,

Communicating , both inside and outside of the team, and

Collaborating with leadership and other subject-matter experts to design systems that streamline and simplify software delivery, delighting the engineers that use those systems.

From a tech-stack perspective, most of our current systems are written in Go and Python, though we do have one extremely high-impact system written in .NET. We use managed Kubernetes as a deployment target for everything we possibly can, and we really like asynchronous methods of integration and loose coupling.

NOTE: This position is Work-From-Home eligible.

Required Qualifications

3 or more years of progressive IT experience as a senior developer in impactful IT projects

1 or more years of project leadership experience

Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving the engineer experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with at least one modern, non-enterprise programming language (Go, Rust, Elixer, etc...)

Familiarity with event-driven architectures

Some experience with .NET (the artist formerly known as .NET Core), but if you don't have this, don't let it stop you from applying

A public GitHub page that you don't mind sharing with us. We'd like to be able to take a look and see what sort of software you like to write.

A history of Open Source contribution. We're buttoning up our OSS contribution process right now, and, as an organization, we're chomping at the bit to start contributing back.
