Description
The Senior Application Architect designs and develops IT applications architecture solutions to business problems in alignment with the enterprise architecture direction and standards. The Senior Application Architect work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Responsibilities
The Senior Application Architect performs technical planning, architecture development and modification of specifications. Develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings. Assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services proposed as standards in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent applications. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
This position will be responsible for applications that support our Commercial Group segment, specifically capabilities related to product, pricing, quoting, group installation, group administration and retention. These applications currently have enhancements inflight to accommodate the growth strategy defined by the segment. In addition, these applications have started an aggressive initiative to upgrade off of legacy technologies. And finally, many of these capabilities will be transformed into Salesforce and other software solutions over the next number of years. We're looking for an individual who can lead, guide and consult through these various initiatives as we look to grow the business, modernize these applications and transform the user experience.
Responsibilities
Develop Partnerships
Work with business owners to modify current business processes to improve their efficiency and accuracy
Partner with business owners to propose and analyze potential technology solutions to business opportunities
Collaborate with other Development, Infrastructure and Security teams
Application Oversight
Perform regular reviews of existing application architecture
Recommend when portions of current architecture should be replaced with new components/technologies
Ensure that application architecture documentation is kept up to date with any new technology or configuration changes
Design, develop and support our application roadmap
Application Solutions
Understand business purpose of software solution requests
Provide ROM and detailed estimates
Research IT products/services to determine usefulness and compatibility
Make decisions regarding IT products/services, applications and service offerings that are diverse in scope and complex in nature
Design application architecture solutions to meet business needs in alignment with enterprise architecture direction and standards
Lead architecture/design sessions, build consensus among architects and other stakeholders to create solutions
Team Leadership
Provide leadership and direction to team members responsible for planning, analysis and design of software solutions
Drive innovation, roadmaps, upgrades and future technologies
Lead team through their DevOps journey
Recommend appropriate performance monitoring, alerts and error reporting across applications
Provide guidance on remediation of application security vulnerabilities
Contribute to disaster recovery planning, documentation and execution
Mentor team members
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
7 or more years of experience as a senior developer in large IT projects
Prior project architect and/or team lead experience
Demonstrates technical curiosity, strategic thinking in design and implementation
Ability to lead an onshore-offshore team model in combination with remote associates
Ability to multi-task across multiple initiatives
Experience with .NET, C#, ASP.NET, SQL, Web API's, Web Services, MQ
DevOps implementation experience
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
